NCPF / RCPF Coil wagon update.

Hi all,

I've received a number of emails in response to the coil wagon and I'm guessing it will be a popular kit! Things are going well with the production. The chassis is completed and some improvements were made. I'm more than pleased with the finished master.

The next improvement is the steps. The kit was going to have wire you bend into steps, but I have chosen to use lost wax brass castings. I did a production run for the Auscision NQIW wagons and they sold out in few days on Ebay! I will re-run them and use them in the coil wagon kit. With the super accurate models from China, I thought it's worth the effort. Also, being brass, they won't break as easy as the plastic items from China. At this date they will remain at $50 per kit plus posage,t and as in the last post , coils will be extra.

I will also be casting white metal coil cradle bases. in addition, the angle brackets behind the cradles will now also be white metal. This is to add weight for empty running. The kits sold with coils will still have the parts in polyurethane, as the coils add the required weight.

At this point the price will remain at $50. However, the lost wax parts are hard too cast with so much 3D detail, and may increase price by $5 per kit! I will keep you posted!!

New Rails in scale kit NCPF / RCPF Coil wagon

Hi all,

Just a short post to let you know my next kit will be the NCPF RCPF Coil wagon. The kit will include all the castings, brass etch jack pads, decals ,bogies and Kd,s to build the model. The photo shows a basic test casting. The model is yet to have the bracing added to the coil cradles but it give you an idea of the model. It will be on sale in around 13 weeks. Cost is $50 plus post. Please note, the coils will be extra.

More Van posts! the rusty dusty Auscision NSWGR NLKY

Hi all,

Will I ever stop! It's been a van weathering frenzy, I have lost count. Now you guys get to see one, sometimes two, of each style of model I weather but behind the scenes I have been busy weathering 16 vans for myself and 26 coal hoppers for a customer all with graffiti!

When I have finished I will blog some photos of the hoppers. Anyway back to this blog...

We have a Auscision NLKY van with rusty louvers and showing signs of a typical Aussie rail life. I had some fun getting the rust on each louver! The model is all brush painted. This let me have more control where the colour and rust went as to keep both colours distinctively apart, I don't want a wash of brown and Blue. Once I had the colours where I wanted them I gave the model a going over with powders to tone things down.

On Track Models V/Line VLEX Louvre van

Hi all,

Just got a set of On Track models VLEX vans thought I'd give them the treatment! There a nice model with working doors and crisp details. I based the model on mid to late 1980's photos so I went easy on the graffiti with just a few tags.

I gave the model a white wash (hard to see in photo) and the roof a good dusting of weathering powder. I did not see the need to go to heavy with the weathering powders as the prototype vans often looked a relatively clean unit with very little if any rust. However there last days saw them just covered in graffiti...Just a thought for more modern day

Modellers, I almost forgot!! A door had to be replaced but the boys at the Vic-rail shops had a replacement out the back....

Auscision Models NSWGR NLKY Louvered Van

Hi all,

This blog we have a Auscision models NLKY Louvered van in PTC colours. The van has had the seen better days treatment with grime, dust and you guessed it RUST!!  The model looks great on the layout but the PTC Teal/blue did not show up well in the pictures (well at-least not on my PC screen). It looks more a grey then a Teal/Blue anyway I hope you get better colours than I'm seeing!

Small weathering details that make a difference

Hi all,

Having more than one number of the same of  loco can be a weathering challenge so I try to add a small but noticeable difference!

In the case of this 47 class loco it's oily foot prints on the walkway. Very easy to do with some thinned 50/50 gloss black! Now I can run two 47's in the same consist and they both have there unique differences and features like the footprints on this loco and faded numbers on the other candy colour 47 class I have on my blog.

If you going to weather one or more of the same loco always keep the others handy so you can make the weathering just a little different on each

one and always have a few photos handy! You don't need try and match whats in the photo but use it as inspiration....

Extreme Weathered NSW Hoppers

Hi all,

One thing New South Wales rolling stock has to endure is the harsh working environment of Australian rail network! From the dust out west to the grime of the city, the hot unforgiving sun, and of course, the vandals who tag and graffiti every kind of rolling stock they can get close

enough too with a spray can.

The hoppers in this blog have had the full going over to represent sun faded logos, dust, and graffiti..
